Horton Plain

Situated south of Nuwara-eliya the Horton plane is a bounding desolate. Winds swept platue set at an evaluation of over 2000m. A world apart from the rest of Sri Lanka the plains offer excellent trekking including a 10km circular walk to the worlds' end where the cliff plunges 1000m offering a marvelous view to the south.

A down start is advisable as the clouds often roll in by mid morning. Herds of sambur deer, lizards and many endemic bird species enhance the Horton planes. Experience is there is always the hope of a glimpse of a leopard. The region to the east of the Horton planes features some of the Islands most charming village, dotted with spectacular water falls and steeped in ancient history.
